February 28, 2009Brand new blog about Brand New
February 28, 2009
Yep, we’ve just posted a new MySpace blog, from BrokeNCYDE to Brand New. It seems we should’ve started with a band beginning with the letter ‘A’. No matter, for at this point all that matters is we want your opinion on the songsters who go by the name of Brand New. Do you love them, like them or hate them? We could even stretch to obsess and detest/cannot stand.
Discuss it HERE, y’all.
Live Review: A Day To Remember – O2 Academy 2, Newcastle, February 17th 2009
February 28, 2009
Faye went to the Newcastle date of A Day To Remember’s impressive near-sold out UK tour, a show which proved exactly why their tour, which has just culminated, sold out like hot cakes.
A pain-staking hour’s wait between doors opening at 7pm and the first act beginning at 8pm, left the awaiting crowd restless and agitated. However, this was all forgotten, as everyone pepped up, within the second of melodic metalcore outfit, Azriel, taking stage. Read the rest of this entry »

Live Review: Reel Big Fish – O2 Academy, Newcastle, February 16th 2009
February 23, 2009
Time to bring out those chequered-slacks again, as the kings of ska, Reel Big Fish, are back in the UK! Faye was lucky enough to catch the sold-out Newcastle show.
The night started off with Random Hand, who, within the past year, have supported other ska heavyweights, such as: Big D and The Kids Table and Streetlight Manifesto, during their UK tours. They may appear to be the Furthest Drives Home-dial-a-support band of the ska world, but, hey, I’m not complaining, at least they have talent and bring something different to the table.
The 4-piece from West Yorkshire got the crowd skanking and clapping-along with their unique fusion of punk, ska, hip-hop, dub, metal, and reggae. Which, on paper, probably looks like a God-awful concoction, but they make it work. In fact, live, they make it work very well, combined with their politically-charged lyrics, energetically-engaging live performance, and an endearingly down-to-earth front man, which left the crowd content and salivating for the rest of their portions of ska lying ahead.

Interview – Mother Mother
February 20, 2009
Holly caught up with minimalistic-answerers, Mother Mother. So, here is a minimalistic intro. Deep. Am I indie now?
Who’s there and how are we doing?
Ryan Guldemond and Ali Siadat. Doin’ fine.
Okay, let’s get cracking to the real questions. The rooster symbolism: explain please.
Early rising is a mandate in Mother Mother. The scratches represent self masochism. We’re also not without great bouts of cockiness.
