Portland rock quintet I Never Heard The Bullet offer a tried and tested formula with Moving With Grace That Men Despise – the same usual screaming and singing combo, the same dual guitars playing away, much like any band of its type. The difference is, this band do it all a lot better than many more established bands.
Sounding similar to UK-metallers Exit Ten, and post-hardcore outfit Silverstein, there’s many a line where you can really hear the emotion in frontman Motaz Hussein‘s vocal work, it’s sublime.
Strike Three comes across a very powerful track, as well as somewhat beautiful, with a brilliantly soft interlude and some excellent guitar work present.
On a whole, the record is catchy, well made, and really grabs attention, the balance between brutal screams and melody is near perfect. Possibly the only downfall to this EP is that once you really get going, it’s ended, having only 5 proper tracks.
There seriously needs to be more of this kind of work, and soon; I Never Heard The Bullet are definitely onto something great here.
