The newest slice of post-hardcore delight from Essex, 5-piece Shadows Chasing Ghosts, comes in the form of Searchlights; instantly likeable, with Trey Tremain‘s constant swaps from screams to powerful melodic vocals really work, and compliment the sheer ferocity of the crunching guitar work.
Add in a juicy little breakdown 2-and-a-half minutes in, and an ever-quietening gang chant outro, and this really does have all the makings of a favourite.
For good measure, an acoustic cover of old EP song Needle is thrown in, and it too sounds great. As beautiful as the proper song is, hearing the intro on an acoustic guitar is nothing short of fantastic.
This single is a vast improvement on an EP that was massively impressive to begin with, and really leaves you wondering if Shadows will keep it up and deliver more goodness such as this gem.
