Review: Attack! Attack! – The Latest Fashion

September 30, 2010
After 2008′s self-titled album, Caerphilly quartet Attack! Attack! have had quite a ride – supporting any amount of big names from Alkaline Trio to Lostprophets and many between, creating the “difficult” second album was surely to be make or break – a continuation of an album that perhaps didn’t gain the full credit it deserved.

May 15, 2010

There’s a lot going on tonight in Newcastle. One of those goings on takes the shape of South Welsh rockers Attack! Attack!. Having not played a full headline show themselves here since November 2008, it’s interesting to see how the band have developed. With a new record on the horizon, and a big “SOLD OUT” on the front doors, tonight promises to be one massive party!

Interview: Attack! Attack!

October 11, 2009
Attack+AttackWelshmen – you can never tell when they’re being sincere or joking. Once again, George is had on, this time by one half of South Wales rock quartet Attack! Attack!, who are convincingly…well, convinced, that they’ve never heard of their American namesake. George catches up with Neil Starr and Ryan Day on their third day on tour with Go:Audio, in which they discuss just when a new album may be released, what the highlights of their ever busy year have been, and why there are two X-Box pods standing near the merch desk…

George: Can you say your names, and what you do in the band?
Neil: I’m Neil, I play guitar and sing.
Ryan: Ryan, play guitar.

George: Well, you’re on tour with Go:Audio, how’s it been so far?
Ryan: It’s only the third date, so two shows in, but it’s going good, it’s been cool, man, brilliant, very good.

George: You’ve been almost constantly touring all year, what’s been the highlight?
Neil: Going home. [laughs] Some of the festivals, there’s been loads of really good shows as well, basically, I suppose the overall highlight is just how well our band is going down with fans new and old, yeah so just going down well.

George: You’re on the road with Guitar Hero 5, what does that entail?
Ryan: Us, bringing Guitar Hero 5, fucking… pods, with us, as you can see behind you. [Beside the merch desk, two X-Box 360 pods displaying the new Guitar Hero stand]
Neil: You can play us at Guitar Hero, basically, obviously we’re on the game, so, the idea was that we can play some people at the song (You And Me), and have a laugh.

Live Review: Go:Audio – O2 Academy, Newcastle, October 5th 2009

October 8, 2009

GoAudioIt seems like this band never stop coming back up north; once again, teenie kings Go:Audio make their way back to Newcastle Academy, and although the lineup is stronger than last time, there’s considerably less people queued up with obligatory blankets, banners and posters as you’d expect. Still, the hardcore elite turn out in their masses, and that’s the most important part, right?

Feature: The State Of The North East ‘Scene’

June 6, 2009

Looking at the crop of new British talent in what is, essentially, rock bands, across the land, there’s some real gems hidden away in there; where were You Me At Six all but three years ago? Playing to a handful of people in local bars night after night in their native Surrey.

The same goes for the Welsh vallies, which have spawned the likes of Attack! Attack!, Kids In Glass Houses, Save Your Breath, and such, in recent years. Every area in the UK seems to have a real promise coming from them, in the form of one band or another. Brighton these days, is somewhat of a haven for rock, punk and metal bands, with acts like The Ghost Of A Thousand, Johnny Truant, and The Crave among others to come from the seaside town.

But getting really local, there is one place that in my honest opinion, really lacks in new talent in rock, pop punk, metal, punk, you guessed it, the North East.

May 28, 2009

slamdunkPeople have literally camped overnight for this one, Slam Dunk is bigger than ever, expanding to 6 stages and a DJ set bar now, and this one is packed out with lots of different colours, (and bands mingling in and out, Sean Smith of the Blackout’s hair sticks out like a sore thumb) and the excitement is ecstatic as people rush to their chosen stages for the day.

Review: Attack! Attack! – Honesty (Single)

May 18, 2009

“Honesty didn’t get me anywhere, I know ’cause I read it in your diary…” starts the rather cliché pop-punk song that Welsh upstarts Attack! Attack! have chosen to release as their latest single from their debut album.
