Interview: BrokeNCYDE

April 29, 2010

Back over in the UK, Faye caught up once again with Mikl from the infamous BrokeNCYDE, ahead of their sold out Newcastle show with Jeffree Star. They got talking about all their recent controversies, why the BrokeNCYDE hate train seems to have died down, Phat J becoming a father, and a whole lot more!

Faye: The last time you were over was in June, what have you been up to since then?
Mikl: After that, we played Warped Tour, so much stuff has happened and we just got back from Brazil, then we came here.

Faye: How was Warped Tour in the end? Because there was a lot of controversy around you playing, with bands speaking out against you.
Mikl: Nobody bothered us and we had a really good turn out with our fans, they just kicked ass as usual.

Faye: I saw in another interview that Antz wasn’t allowed in Canada on Warped Tour, what was the deal with that?
Mikl: It was because of his past, so they didn’t want to let him in, they’re really strict over there. Hopefully, next time he’ll be able to go in, we’re trying to fix it right now, so we’ll see.

Faye: This time round in the UK, you’re playing and selling out bigger venues, how does that feel?
Mikl: It’s a dream, every day is amazing and last time, I think we did pretty well, but to come back and to be able to sell out a lot of these shows is just amazing. It just shows that we have a lot of love out there, and no matter about the hate, we have all our fans who show it doesn’t matter. If you have a dream, go for it.

Live Review: BrokeNCYDE – O2 Academy 2, Newcastle, April 12th 2010

April 28, 2010

Kids have been here since the early hours for this. Whether they’re decked out in their high tops, or fully clad like their heroes (one boy/girl in particular dressing his/herself up as Jeffree Star, which is shocking to say the very least) there’s something for everyone here today. Apparently, BrokeNCYDE will never die. Let’s wait and see…

Interview: BrokeNCYDE

June 12, 2009

bcccccWe recently caught up with the notorious BrokeNCYDE on their debut run of the UK in Sunderland. We talked their haters, Kerrang!’s opinion, the ‘Buddy Nielsen incident’, and we got a bit crunk in the process, here’s what they had to say…

Faye: Can you say your names and what you do in BrokeNCYDE?
Mikl: Yeah, I’m Mikl, I hype and I sing.
Se7en: I’m Se7en, I rap, scream, and write the lyrics.
Antz: I’m Antz, I do the light shows and hype.

Faye: Where does the name Se7en come from?
Se7en: It’s like a nickname I grew up with.
Mikl: It means ‘bitch’ in English. [laughs]
Se7en: It’s an old graffiti thing.

Faye: How come Phat J isn’t on the tour?
Mikl: He had a baby a couple of weeks ago, so he’s back at home.

George: Did you all grow up together in Albuquerque?
Mikl: Me and Antz are brothers, but we’ve known Se7en for a long time.
Faye: How did you meet Phat J?
Mikl: We found him on MySpace.
Se7en: Phat J was a fan.
Mikl : Yeah, he used to be a fan of Se7en’s old music .
Se7en: Then we partied and connected. [laughs]

Live Review: BrokeNCYDE – Sunderland, Independent, June 9th 2009

June 11, 2009

bcIt’s fair to say there are a lot of people who might turn up to one of the many dates on BrokeNCYDE‘s debut tour of the UK just for laughs, curiosity, or something to do, but considering that, there’s a pretty impressive turn out of genuine fans tonight, pretty much packing out the Independent.

Antz From BrokeNCYDE Arrested During Sold-Out Original Gangsta Tour

February 24, 2009

Antz (top centre) of crunkcore innovators brokeNCYDE was arrested for alleged criminal mischief, during their current sold-out tour alongside Drop Dead Gorgeous and Eyes Set To Kill. On Tuesday, after appearing in court, Antz was exonerated of all charges and the group re-joined the tour for the remaining dates.

Thanks, Racket Mag.

Screamo-crunk, worst genre ever? We beg to differ with you, Kerrang!

February 22, 2009

We’ve just posted a new MySpace blog, regarding Kerrang magazine’s recent claim that ‘screamo-crunk’ is the “worst genre ever”, dissing bands such as brokeNCYDE, 3OH!3, Hollywood Undead, Breathe Carolina, and Dot Dot Curve, along the way.
